Youth and Family Support Services

Youth and Family Support Services

Supporting the families and youth in our community.

In Home Support

Our program provides services with the knowledge of historical events, traumas that have impacted Indigenous peoples. The program staff are able to provide one to one in home supports for parent’s and youth. Supervised visits are provided with interactive supports as needed as well as transportation services for families.

The program delivers services in a culturally, sensitive based approach. It is the belief of our agency to preserve and maintain the family unit. With teachings and knowledge of our Indigenous families, the staff are well versed in the historical trauma that many of the families we work with have endured. Our staff are diverse and educated in indigenous culture and tradition and therefor have an understanding of the families & the communities we work with. It is important for individuals to know who they are, know who their family are, and the communities they come from. Identity largely impacts the youth and families that we work with. As often as possible, the agency will have the same worker involved with the family, limiting the number of people that are coming in and out of their personal matters.

The program provides planned interventions and services aimed at strengthening and preserving youth and their families by providing home-based family centered services designed to:

  • Promote the protection and well-being of children in their homes.
  • Help/educate parents to improve their parenting abilities.
  • Prevent, reduce or eliminate behaviors which may place a child, family, or community at risk.
  • Prevent unnecessary long-term out-of-home placement of a child.
  • Support and enhance a stable and nurturing family environment in which youth can grow and develop.
  • Improve family interaction.
  • Respond immediately to the family at the point of crisis.
  • Enhance family support networks.
  • Genograms are available upon request
